Chesham and the surrounding areas need a place where you can find out what’s on, what is happening, events and activities in and around the town. The information is provided by the people for the people. We celebrate the involvement of everyone in our community, all that Cheshamites do to ‘serve one another’.
Chiltern Voice is a local unincorporated voluntary association that publishes information about news and events in and around Chesham.
Its aim is to support the community with a free of charge noticeboard for information. It is not linked to any outside organisation so that the views expressed are unbiased.
Chiltern Voice seeks involvement from the local community – individuals, organisations and businesses – to supply articles, assist with editing and publication, and support with advertising to cover the modest costs of this electronic publication.
History
Following the announcement in 2006 that the Bucks Examiner newspaper would be discontinuing its Village Voice in Chesham column we launched Chiltern Voice, setting out with the humble goal of delivering local news and events to the people living in and around Chesham. We never imagined Chiltern Voice would grow into such a time consuming project and something that would become so well received by the public.
Readers’ interest, support and encouragement has kept us going publishing editions every week since the beginning of 2007. We have never missed a week of news updates.
The original website started to struggle under the weight of content and archive. We decided to redevelop our site and after nearly five months it went live in May 2010. The new website permits increased reporting of events as well as the inclusion of an event calendar. The next objective is for longer feature articles and stories about local businesses.
