On Wednesday 4 April 2012 Estas Tonne will be presenting a unique meditative performance at The Drawingroom, Chesham. He told Richard Elkington, ‘I will play one and a half to two hours only one track, with concentration on breathing and looking inside. There is not much to tell or advertise as it is all about silence. It is exciting and new for me.’ Considered to be amongst the top 20 guitarists in the world today, Estas is a troubadour of the 21st century. He’s in the UK for just a few days and will be performing just twice, here and in London. He has travelled from Brazil, India, Israel, Russia, Switzerland, Germany the UK and France in just the last 12 months. Inspired by what he has learned on his most recent visit to India this will be a new experience for everyone.
This will be different from The Drawingroom’s usual gigs. Arrive from 7.30pm, not before please; the music will start at 8.30pm so the experience will continue until around 10 – 10.30pm. Supper, which is optional and costs £7.50 each, will be served at 8pm. Tables will be cleared of food before the music begins, so be prompt or arrange to eat beforehand. Seating will be allocated upon a first come first seated. There is no charge for coming, however if you book and do not come, there will be a no show levy of £5 per head. At the end you will each be invited to make an offering (in a hat) to Estas, as little or as much as you can afford to pay as a token of appreciation.
