Singing By Dozens of Voices for Don’s White Hill Fund

A Memorial Concert in aid of the late Don Smith will be on Saturday 14 April 2012 at 7.30pm at the White Hill Centre. Proceeds will be donated to the Don Smith Memorial Fund.

The Chess Valley Male Voice Choir and the Knights of Harmony Barbershop Harmony Club have come together to put on a combined show. They are joined by the Friends and Neighbours Barbershop Quartet who have had a long association with the Knights of Harmony and sang with Don Smith since the club was formed. The concert will be a feast of male voice singing comprising a wide variety of quality popular music sung in harmony, accompanied and non accompanied.

Don sang with male voice choirs all of his life, starting with a male voice choir in Nottingham. He was a founder member of the Chesham Barbershop Chorus In 1975, now called the Knights of Harmony, and was a keen member until 2004. He then joined the Chess Valley Male Voice Choir and was an enthusiastic member until his death in 2011. In his retirement Don used his energy and talent as a devoted member of the management team of the White Hill Community Centre. In his memory, the White Hill Centre have set up a Don Smith Memorial Fund to be used to refurbish the refreshment areas of the Centre.
