Diamond Jubilee Chesham’s Celebrations Call for Song & Dance
| June 4, 2012 |
In June 2012, Her Majesty The Queen will celebrate sixty years on the throne, the second Monarch in British history to achieve this. (On Monday 6 February 2012 Elizabeth II will have been queen 60 years). The previous Monarch to achieve this was Queen Victoria in 1897. Queen Elizabeth has reigned through some of the most profound and breathtaking changes ever to have taken place in our history, such as decimalisation, the National Health Service, space travel and the internet.
The Diamond Jubilee celebrations are being coordinated by the Chesham Events Group (formerly the Jubilee Committee). They are calling on drama and song & dance groups who might be interested in putting on a musical performance in Lowndes park on Monday 4 June 2011, The idea is to depict 60 years of the Queen’s reign. Cllr Alison Pirouet said, ‘I have been trying to contact as many groups as I can separately, if you haven‘t heard from me, please get in touch call 01494 261951, 07952 433378 or email alisonp76@yahoo.com.
