Vale Brook A Stream Under Chesham, Let it Out

There was reference to Chiltern Voice’s concept of opening out the Vale Brook culvert into Market Square at a meeting of the Chesham Chamber of Trade and Commerce on Wednesday 20 July 2011. The concept is supported by the River Chess Association, whose chair Paul Jennings said, “We need to face the fact that work has to be done on the Vale Brook culvert.” Money will need to be spent to repair it because some sections are liable to collapse and Paul will research costs. It Vale Brook could be unconfined from its culvert and an attractive watercourse made in Market Square or even along the whole High Street for the same amount of money (a figure of £5 has been mentioned), would that be acceptable to townspeople?

Our picture of the Tooley Street stream in the More London development seems inappropriate for Chesham – what do you think?

Chiltern Voice reported Vale Brook Meanders Through Chesham Town; Imagine A Chalk Stream Through Market Square; Bring Back the Stream.
