Steel shutters on shop windows

One of the Chesham Society members has raised the issue of the growing number of shops in the High Street to have steel shutters over their windows when they are closed. Apparently in many cases it is a requirement of the shop’s insurance policy, which if not complied with, could indirectly oblige them to close leaving an empty shop. The Society committee is thinking of asking for a suitable mural to be painted on the shutters, perhaps from sixth form art students. Chairman Bernard Meldrum said, “We would appreciate hearing members’ views at the Wednesday 17 September Chesham Society Members’ Meeting at the Town Hall, 7.30pm for 8pm.”
