Photographic Competition 2007 young people did well

We're lucky that Paul Woodburn hasn't yet departed for Scotland. He’s organised the children’s photographic competition for the fifth year for the Asheridge Vale & Lowndes Community Association, and the photographs have now been judged. The aim was to encourage participants to be aware of the area in which they live. Single use cameras were used and the subject was My Beautiful Chesham. Students from the final year at Elmtree School and the first year of Chesham Park Community College took part.
Paul Woodburn said, “We wish to thank our sponsors Chesham Cameras, who provided the first prizes for the juniors and seniors; two very nice photographic printers that work from the camera without the need for a computer. “RMD Consultancy Ltd, Chesham provided the cash for processing, Kodak provided the single use cameras, Waitrose donated sweets for prizes and Chesham Camera Club loaned the exhibition stands and made a donation.”
The standard of photography was high from both age groups, making it difficult for the judges. “It was a pleasure to see such good results from some very talented young photographers of Chesham”, said Paul, “The photographs give an insight into the way they see the world”. The children have no pre conceptions of what a good photograph should be and produce surprising results, compared to the older ones who are beginning to understand the potential of photography as an art form.
Winners were - from Chesham Park Community College: first prize Ryan Izard, best panel Luke Munday; from Elmtree School: first Lucy Rouse, second Mukadus Perriaz and third Madalyn Cope, best panel Lauren Ashby.
The photographs will form part of the Chesham Camera Club Exhibition to be held at Chesham Town Hall in October.
