If you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all

Alan Russell was getting fed up with red, industrial strength pastry brushes when I called at the last remaining brushworks in Chesham. He had an order for 800 for a firm in High Wycombe which prides itself in obtaining everything from England. The ferrules were made by A Rogers & Sons, Wood Turners of 64 Higham Rd.
When I wanted banister brushes as gifts, Alan helped me to have a go at putting the lovely Chinese pig’s bristles into the slots in the pattern, after that they are glued to the back. I was painfully slow and the bristles seemed to get all over the place. Alan said if he employed me, it would take five years before I became cost effective.
Russells supply a variety of brushes which can be purchased from Pearces Hardware 6 High St, Chesham HP5 1EP call 01494 784174.
